Question regarding visitor visa on VFS website

Hi all,
I am in the process of taking a visitor visa appointment thru the VFS Visas website for my mother at the Chennai COnsulate. I am in US. Using the DD recipt number I am trying to book an appointment. Right now it shows the dates are open for June (Telugu) but it doesn't allow me to choose a particaular date. So, I clicked "Continue" and went ahead and filled the DS 156 form. I still havent filled the DS 157 form. My question is, does it allow us to select the particular date after both the DS156 and DS157 are complete or is the VFS website only for saving the application forms, i.e save the forms on the website, but take the appointment physically at any of the designated locations in India??? Please let me know asap. Thanks in advance..

Fill the application first and you will be allowed to pick the appt date.

Than you very much for the information.I have the following questions.

1. One of my friend mentioned me that DS 157 is not required for females . And he also said that he didn't fill DS157 for his mom when he applied last year. He also said that he didnt filll the same for his father also since he is above 40 yrs.

My mom is around 60yrs old. So, is it not necessary to fill DS 157? In that case, will I be able to take an appointment date, because it shows me both DS156 and DS157 on the VFS webiste..

On my latest screen after filling DS 156, it shows DS156 and 156 with a checkmark beside DS 156 .Bottom it shows "Delete applicant" and "Save Application and Exit". Incase I dont need to fill ds 157 how do I go from here?? SO do I need to fill DS 157 too?????

2. On DS 156 #39, what should be my answer? " Was this application prepared by Another person on your behalf? " I am supposing this is "Yes" because I am filling it for my mom. , please let me know if I am correct or wrong..

Please advise me asap..
