Hello I could use some advice. I am an American citizen living and working in China. I am married to a Thai lady for almost five years now and we have two boys who already have their American passports so I need to take care of my wife. We are 90% sure we want to go to the USA in July to stay. Should we go to Beijing and apply for a non immigrant B-2 visa and try to change our status once in America or make a much longer trip (twice) to Guangzhou to apply for an immigrant visa? I want to be honest at all times and don't want to encounter any problems with "preconceived intent". Neither my wife or my sons have ever been to the states before. It will take considerably more time and money to fly to Guangzhou to first apply and then fly back later for the interview. So if we can take a short train ride to Beijing and then apply for the green card once in America it would be much easier but I don't want to take any chances.
