10 yr multiple entry / travel before expiration

Hello,

My parents have 10 yr multiple entry visa. Its expiring June '16. Can they travel to US in Dec '15 and stay 6 months? Or should they first renew?

Does visa have to have certain validity when they enter? I've read they could enter until the last day of visa, and the date on I-94 defines how long they can stay after having entered.

This is true. They can enter anytime before the expiration and most likely they will get 6 months of stay.
