Passport Requirements for UK visitors to USA

Hello all....Do I need 6 months left on my UK passport to visit the USA on Vacation,or as long as my passport is valid for the length of stay,is that all that is required.I will be in the USA next May,for 7 days,and my passport ends in September.There seems a lot of confusion on various websites,but surely,there can only be one answer???
