  • Tourist Visa to Student/Study Visa

    Hey there,

I could use some clarity regarding a personal interest of studying in the U.S at a much later date. I read on this website that I could not apply for a tourist visa and then change my status to an F-1 visa, and that if I wanted to study in the U.S I would need to directly apply for the F-1 visa. However, to be eligible for an F-1 visa, I require to have been fully admitted and accepted in a program to a school; and this is where things get a bit complicated for me. In order to apply for a university or college in the U.S, I require/am recommended to hand in numerous test results that may or may not be able to be acquired in my current country of residence. What if I'm requested for an interview, or offered a tour through campus to make a decision for applying to the school? And what if I need to seek additional financial aid and/or clarity in order to make sure I can study in the U.S? What course of action should be taken if I wish to travel to America in these certain situations?

P.S Apologies if this is on the wrong thread, I was not sure whether my enquiry would be more suitable for the tourist or student visa section.
