Both Passport and US Visitor visa expiring - renewal process

Hi everyone,

My mother's US visitor visa is expiring in September 2016 and her passport is expiring in May 2016. She is in India and she has visited me to US multiple times.

I wanted to know the process of both passport and visa renewal from India. Also, please let me know how will the current US visa validity work since her passport will get renewed first.

Please guide me to articles and/or websites documenting both the processes and what happens if both are expiring around the same time.

Does she need to go for visa interview again? Before or after September?
