  • Sponsor's letter really works well

We just got visitor visa approved for our mother-in-law. My wife found that one of the sponsors in this forum sent a letter addressed to the interviewer and the visa was issued without many questions. We thought it was a good idea and sent a signed letter describing my mother-in-law's ties in India (her job as teacher, their property etc) and the reason why we would like to bring her at this time. She gave the letter right at the beginning and the interviewer just asked her how long she has been working as a teacher and whether she will return. That's it, he asked her to go pay the fees!! He didn't even look into any documents.

I think such a letter makes the interviewer's job easy because he gets all the info he wants in one page. Try this and it might work for you as well. Good Luck!

Here's the letter that we sent:

          To:
          The American Consulate General,
          Chennai, India.

          Dear Sir/Madam,

Subject: Request for grant of US visitor visa to my mother-in-law.

I work at <snipped> and I am with the company since <snipped>. I write this letter in reference to inviting my mother-in-law to visit me and my wife as we would like to take her to the best tourism spots in US like Los Angeles, Washington DC, New York.

Since both I and my wife are employed, we get only 3 weeks of vacation once in 2 years and it would be a great privilege for our parents to visit us here. It would give them the opportunity to spend quality time with us and also to look around and see what a wonderful and pleasant country USA is. Since USA is a big country and we both are employed, we can go to these places only during long weekends like Memorial Day and Independence Day. So, we would really like to have her for 4-6 months.

I assure you that my mother-in-law will return to India before the I-94 expires because of the following ties:
          * My mother-in-law works as a Teacher and she is taking time off in addition to the summer vacation which the school offers.
          * My father-in-law is back in India and she wants to go back after spending considerable time with us
          * They have their own apartment in Chennai and my father-in-law cannot stay alone for a long time and take care of it
          * My wife’s elder sister is married and settled in Chennai.

I assure you that I will take care of all her expenses including airfare, insurance, boarding & lodging while she is here.

          Thanking you,

          Yours Sincerely,

          (Venkataramani Arunachalam)

                Hello,

I have a quick question, my husband wants to apply for my parents to visit USA, they have already been rejected 3 times before, now i am a student and he is on valid H1, but the problem is i am not sure if my husband can apply for my parents or not? and if they interviewer asks them why is your daughter not sponsoring then what do they tell? And am i suppose to be his dependent in order to sponsor for them..?

Would be grateful if i get a reply for this.

                Thanks
                Pari
