  • Tourist Visa for mother-in-law. Please provide some suggestions

    Hi guys,

I desperately need some advise here. We are trying to get tourist visa for my mother-in-law who already had 2 rejections. During first two rejections, she went with my father in law (who had diamond cutting business at that time) and now she is gonna try again 3rd time alone as my father-in-law passed away before 4 months. Their last rejection was in Oct 2013.

My mother-in-law has well bank account balance, also file income tax returns every year, has property on her name and live with her son and daughter-in-law. Her income is basically based on interest she get through some FDs.
So we have two situations which she can use to apply tourist visa:

    1) She can go alone and say i want to visit/meet my daughter in US (her younger daughter, my wife). I am missing her.
    2) Her elder daughter B1/B2 visa just got expired (visited US multiple times in past for tourism and work related, she was software development manager) and needs to be renewed. Now she has quit the IT job in India, and started her small share trading firm business. She is interested in attending a 3-4days stocks conference in NY/Boston in Summer 2016. We live in Boston. Would it be good if my mother in law goes with her for interview? They can say that she is gonna attend conference and gonna meet us and hence mother also wants to meet us too. I don't want her visa renewal visa to be impacted because of mother-in-law rejection history

Please Please advise which option is good

    1. yes
    2. Doesn't matter. Visa office will evaluate each applicant individually. I would suggest your sil should not attend visa interview with her.

Thanks! Should we try apply in New Delhi Embassy this time as she had last two rejections in Mumbai? Please advise. Does location really matter?
