B2 visa rejected - can I travel to the US?

I'm a UK citizen and my B2 visa application was rejected today, because apparently I can't prove strong enough ties to my home country. I currently have a valid ESTA but it expires in May 2016. Can I at least travel to the US for a holiday, for the time that remains on my ESTA?
Also, is it worth seeking legal advice? I have been classified as an "intending immigrant" even though I have NO intention of illegally overstaying.
The US official was rude, unhelpful and in my opinion had made up his mind before I even reached the window. He didn't ask to see any of my supporting documentation and didn't seem to believe a word I said. Is it worth reapplying? I do have documentation to prove that I'll be coming back (tenancy agreement and job starting in September). I'm in shock to be honest - I had thought it was just a formality.

Your ESTA remains valid, so you can holiday in the US. However, you could be asked about your B2 denial at poe.

Urghh I've now been told that I'll definitely get refused entry to the US. Apparently my current ESTA still appears valid, but the information I supplied when applying for it has now changed. It seems that when I applied for it, I will have ticked a box to indicate that I've never been refused entry to the US. However, I have now been refused entry and as such I'll get turned away if I try to enter the US on my current ESTA, even for a vacation.
Do you have any thoughts on this? Thanks in advance.

Your tick mark was correct at the time of application. You have not been refused entry yet. That determination is made at the US poe.

Only way to find out is to plan your trip, and when questioned, be completely honest with officials but don't volunteer anything that's not asked. And carry all agreements, proofs of your ties to the UK, etc with you.

More than likely you won't get a response from someone that posted 2 years ago. You would have better luck starting a new post and asking your question.

As for the previous post since she is denied a visitors visa she wouldn't be able to use the ESTA
