  • Visitor visa:Mother got visa after bio-metrics, father is called for visa interview

My parents applied for Visitor visa. Got appointment for Bio-metrics. Both of them went for bio-metrics appointment. After 3 days, mother got 10 year multiple entry visa, but father is called for a VISA interview. My mother is 70 years old and my father is 79 years old. There is no reason mentioned, but he is called for an interview. Is there any reason why only one parent got visa without interview and one is called for an interview. What documents should he take for the interview. Is this a standard practice where one parent gets visa and the other is called for an interview.

    Please advise

    Thanks

It is possible that someone is called for an interview. There is no way for others to know for the reason. No special documents. Just the standard documents that you would normally carry to an interview. Look at our visitors visa section.

Quite possible that the VO would like to see health situation for your father - considering 79 years of the age.

It also depends on "your" visa status (assuming you are sponsoring them) that your father won't become burden to the US government for his medical needs.

Just let him carry all regular documents along with copy of your mother's recently issued visa, high chance that he will get the visa after VO looking at all these stuff.

Thanks for the replies. My father went to the consulate and the VO just asked where I live in the US and did not ask any more questions. VO did not ask for the documents either. As mentioned, it is quite possible that the VO just wanted to see my father and judge his health situation. He got the visa.

        Thanks
