re entering on b1/b2 visa

Hi my brother is on b2 visa in us. he want to exit north america and re enter after his 6 months stay. can he just visit jamaica or any other neighbouring carribean islands and re enter within a week if he has genuine reasons to enter the u.s.

It will be up to the CBP officer.

Officers, however, are versed in spotting those who use their maximum stay, exit the US for a short duration, then try to re-enter. Usually does not work. They will likely want to know the additional purpose that hasn't been accomplished in the current 6 months' stay. B2s are primarily for short visits.
