  • Visitor visa approved for 3 months - when to enter?

My parents visa is approved on feb 13th on their second attempt. But they gave for less than 3 months only, till may 9th.
Now they are very upset as they planned to visit US in april for the baby delivery in may.

Is that mean they can stay in US upto may 9th? or they can enter US before may 9th.

One of my friend says they can come before may 9th and the immigration officer at the port of entry will usually stamp for 6 months. How possible is this to happen? or what else can we do? Please share your thoughts or experiences or advices.
    Thanks in advance. Sateesh

Your friend is correct, they have to reach US before May 9th, then it depends on the Immigration officer how long he stamps the I94.(mostly 6 months)

        It is at Chennai consulate.

Last time when they attended, the offocer told 6 months would be long to go away from job. So this time we changed it to 3 months !

One more strange thing is, the interviewer is Indian and he verified each and every document fully as far as he can. Interview lasted for around 45 min.

        Thanks for your reply
