  • Tourist Visa for my foreign husband (I am a US citizen)

My husband was denied a tourist visa today so we are going to try again. The extent of his interview was:

    officer: Where are you going?
My husband: To visit my mother in law.
officer: Do you have your wife's visa or a copy?
    My husband: She is American.
officer: Her passport or a copy?
My husband: No, it's at the house.

Prompt denial. Grrrr. No where did I see MY passport being on the list of things to bring, so now I found Immihelp and we are going to prepare ALL of the documents they suggest for next time (in 1 - 2 weeks).

Is there anything in particular we should bring? Has anyone else been in this situation?

We are only asking for 1 week because we want to visit my mom and come back - thus establishing a "good" visa record for future trips.

I think my husband's chances are good since we have traveled to 5 other countries in the past year, I have been living abroad with him for over 2 years and he has 2 school aged children which live with us. He also owns the home we live in. The only thing I am concerned with is that he is self employed, but I make more than enough to cover the trip and can easily prove it as his sponsor.

Ideally, when you apply for an non-immigrant visa for a potential immigrant its always better to have all supporting documents with you during the interview.

For B2 visa, you can provide him with a cover letter, mentioning details - shown here https://www.immihelp.com/usa-visitors-visa#sampledocs & provide supporting documents.

On the other side, why you applying for Tourist visa for your husband, while you can give him a Green Card.

Travelling to other countries doesn't make any sense for your US visa application.
