  • B2 For Parents, is my spouse direct relative to them?

    Hello,
Planning to invite my parents over (I am GC holder) and found something concerning - my spouse is out of status and I wonder if on my parent's application we have to list anybody else as a direct relative other than me. We also have a baby, which would be their grand child. Everything else is great, they have solid business overseas, I have earn enough to support their trip.
    Should I try it?
Thanks for the tips in advance.

Up to the applicant how much they wish to disclose, but if they're asked details about the son at interview, they would have to be honest. A US-based child's visa or marital status are fair game for VOs adjudicating parents\in-laws B2.

Thanks for your response. I did a bit of research and I am still not clear:

Is my spouse (or my child) a direct relative to my parents (I think not) and should that be mentioned in the DS-160 application?

I understand that they might be asked on the interview about that, question is are they obligated to list my spouse (and my child) on their the DS-160 application?

In the DS160, they just need to mention your name (their son).

It is obvious that your family will also be there with you. If there is any question related to your family, your parents should answer details about your spouse & kid(s).
