  • Visa and OCI

My son (US citizen)- 6 months old has an Indian visa for 10 years. We went to India recently and came back. Is it ok for him to travel to India in the next 10 years with just the visa and not apply for oci? Or is the oci card absolutely required for travel? Im just trying to understand if i can let the visa be until it expires and then apply for the oci

    Thanks

One is required. Either Visa or OCI. Yes, he can travel with the visa he already has but can't stay for more than 180 days in one trip.

Post a reply to the thread: Visa and OCI

Your son will need OCI for traveling in future. Apart from visa, it will let him visit there for multiple purposes lifelong. It’s a legal document essential for NRIs as the website www.services2nri.com states.
