Is Visitors (B-2) Visa sufficient?

Hi,

I plan to come the USA from Taiwan and will be staying with a friend of a friend. I am coming mostly to experience the culture, but am planning on attending a language program while I am here. I am not earning any credits, am not booking the program through a university, and am not studying more than 15 hours per week. The course has us study 15 hours a week and then we go on activities to explore the area in the afternoon.

I've seen lots of different accounts of what I am required to do. I've seen some say that this is perfectly fine under a visitors visa. I've seen other say that I need a student visa. I don't see why I would need a student visa, but I am not sure.

Go ahead & apply for B2, it should be fine.

I know I can get a visitor visa easily, for Taiwan its easy. But what if i want to go to america in future? If i go to program will it hurt my future?

Since you mentioned you are not earning any credit, you should be good with B2 visa & a short visit for a month or two.

If you want to go with an Student visa F1, than you would certainly need a lot of other documentation related to your study.

Hence go ahead & apply for B2, it should be fine.
