What's next after submitting ds-160?

Hi, I'd just submitted my application online, do I need to wait for instruction from embassy, or I should just straightaway go ahead & make the payment for visa and follow by fixing an appointment for interview? Just want to double confirm before I pay the fee of USD160 which is non refundable ~~
