  • lost approval notice

My mother was rejected a visitor's visa. She had stayed in US for almost a year in 1998. The apparent reason for rejection was I can't provide the extension approval notice. The God honest truth is My mother did apply for extension of status in 1998 and got the approval. But I can't find the paper after nearly 8 years and I moved twice during this time. What can I do now? Please help!

    Thanks!

Can't you request INS for a copy ???

I would think that the INS (now DHS) would have all that info in its records. As long as your mom still has the old visa stamp in her passport you have all the information to request a copy of the extension !

Please note that this is just my assumption and you should look into whether this is possible, I'm not sure if it is !

      same situation

I am also sailing in the same boat. I extended my mom's visitors visa 3 years back and got the approval but lost the approval notice. My parents went for visa feb 23rd and got rejected. I even dont have the receipt number. Not sure how to get the copy of approval notice.

      Any help is appreciated.
