Passport does not indicate if the person is deceased. Same situation with my mom. When you fill the DS156 form, there is a column asking for the marital status of your mother - widowed is an option there. You still need to specify your dad's name as indicated in your mother's passport in the spouse column. Also the officer often asks directly about the spouse - he did ask my mother about my dad.

The option in DS -156 says widowed while filling it out ,but when you see the saved version ,it becomes WIDOWER .Should I still click on widowed ?
