Question about visa appointment dates

Hi Everyone,

I booked the visa appointment for my parents and got the appointment date for 11-may-2006. now i can see at vfs site that they have dates available for new applicants 5th may onwards but when i try to reschedule the appointment these dates are not available to me?? i can only reschedule any day after 12th may.

Can anyone tell me why its not letting me reschedule the appointment on 5th may when its showing that 5th may is available for new applicants??

Hi Maverick,
I am also facing a similar problem. See my posting titled "Was anyone able to prepone appointment from VFS website?" below. I even tried rescheduling just one applicant instead of joint (as someone said that if a single slot opens a joint application might not be eligible for it) but even that did'nt work.
I wrote to VFS help desk and am waiting their answer. I suggest you should also write to them ( [email protected]) .

I think Reschedule option only lets you postpone the appointment , not
bring it forward. My folks' appointment is on June 29th and Reschedule shows open slots only from June 29th and after, this behavior seems to be applying in your case also in that it is letting you reschedule only after 11th May.

Either this is the way they intended it to work or it is a bug.

Yes that seems to be the case. but no where on vfs site it says that you can't prepone the appointment. i've sent a mail to them but haven't got any reply yet.

You are right, they did not post anywhere on their site that it cannot be preponed. I don't know if temporarily they disallowed preponement, we can just keep guessing.

They should allow you to prepone / postpone.
Two days back I had preponed an appointment to earlier date. It worked without any problem.
This was for a Tamil applicant.

You cannot prophone the appointments. If you want to preophone u need to cancel the existing appointment and make the new appointment.

They had put this restriction .

Could not reschedule

I am also trying to do reschedule it earlier but earlier dates shows available once in a while. When I try to reschedule it, I don't see it available.

Guys, VFS finally replied to my query and its bad news. You can't prepone an appointment, to do that you have to cancel the existing appointment and book a fresh appintment again. Here's the copy of their reply:

"Reschedule can be done only to postpone the appointment.If you want to pre-pone it is required that you cancel your appointment and fill the forms and book a fresh appointment using the same receipt. However, there is no assurance as to the availability of dates"

This VFS website designers should have mentioned that clearly on their site when one goes to reschedule rather than keep people in the dark and waste so many hours of their time. These guys have no clue what "user-friendliness" means.

Is this is a new one not to prepone the appointment or it is there from the beginning.

It looks like a new one from around 2/20 because some posters have said they recently preponed appointments.

thats just plain stupid why wouldnt they allow ppl to prepone it if dates are available?? and if they have changed the rule after 02/20 why they never bothered to put it on their reschedule page?
