US consulate advises that “travellers should made arrangements for flight, hotel accommodation, travel plans etc” after getting Visa only. However DS 160 seeks information on contact details at US. Since we do not have any relatives or friends who will sponsor us and we want to travel independently, what is the convincing documentary evidence we can show at the time of interview when we have not booked hotels or tickets etc? Without these, will the folks at Consul be convinced to issue tourist visa?

For tourist visa, officer would like to know:
1. If you can afford your visit (i.e. sufficient funds)
2. If you'll return back (i.e. ties to your home country)
3. If you have no intention to stay there (i.e. property in your name, immediate family members)- I am not an Attorney, hence not giving any legal advice. Just sharing MY opinion with an intent to help others.
