  • Can i claim parents as dependents

I am sure this question has been asked many times but i couldn't find a right answer. Here is what i have:

    i) My parents are on visitor visa and have lived with me for 183 days.

ii) They do not have any income in India.

iii) They do have US ITIN numbers.

Can i claim them as dependents on my tax returns ( no body else have claimed them as dependent ). Does any one have reference to IRS? I know it does say it applies only to US citizens and US aliens. Not sure what US aliens exactly meant?

      Seriously? ..Answer is no.

On a visitor visa, as in your own words.. they're "visiting", not "living"! And, the maximum authorized admittance is typically 180 days on a B2 visa for short visits.
