More than one child in US

Hello,

From many cases reported on this site, it appears not advisable to say that more than one child is in the US. What if me the sponsor as well as my sister both permanent residents are in US and we try to indicate during the interview that my sister is in India only and not US? Is there any way the consulate can verify this ? Would this really help in showing ties back to India.
Also my brother is in India and is married.

Please advise. Thanks.

I would not lie to the officers.. But I have no idea how they can find it out....
