  • Documents to prepare to address first time visa rejection due to 214(b)

    Hi All,

My parents were rejected their B2 visa few years ago as they were found ineligible under section 214(b), failure to show strong family, social or economic ties to place of residence.

My parents are reapplying for their visa shortly and we are in the process of preparing the required paperwork.

Question: Are you aware of any documentation or letters that are prepared to address section 214(b). We have prepared documents showing property ownership and related valuation reports etc. (we did not have any of these the first time). Additionally, I'm considering an affidavit for assurance of return.

Could you please let me know how you or any one you know prepared to address the 214(b) issue.

    Appreciate your help.

    Thanks.

Documents are rarely looked at. Affidavits don't mean much. And the consulates know that property documents in India are susceptible to forgery. What they ought to focus instead is presenting a profile that provides evidence of strong ties to India and their ability to finance the visit to USA. What that means is evidence of a strong financial profile either via a high paying job, a strong business, or a significant bank balance.

And to prove this, be ready with original documents during the interview as proof. For example, bank statement, IT returns, salary slip etc.
