  • Visiting Visa Question

    Hi All,

I applied for Visiting Visa for my Mother a couple of times which she got rejected for reason 214(b). She's a Widow doing a government Job and I am the only son(US CItizen). I recently applied visa in March and the questions I have are

    1) Are the documents that I sent in March are sufficient if I apply for Visiting Visa again in May or do I need to send the new ones.

    2) As I am the only Son and she's a Widow what are the chances of her getting Visa if I reapply or how can the Visa Officer will be convinced that she'll return to India.

    3) If she gets rejected third time also I am planning to file Green Card but as she's working for Indian Government is she eligable for GC.

Can someone help me regarding my Questions.

    Thanks!

Apparently she failed to convince the officer she will return to her home country at the end of her US visit; and it's obvious now.

Is she planning to quit her job with the Indian Govt?

Each time an applicant visit the embassy for visa, they should show improvement in their application - like changes in circumstances. Bank statements need to be latest, so send new ones.

Chances are quite low, because you are a US citizen & can try to sponsor her GC - which makes her potential immigrant.

Yes, she is eligible for GC & that will be a good route, but it will take time.

Sadly, a lot of Indians, esp USCs, have the misconception that once a relative is denied a B2 once or twice, they could easily sponsor them for a GC.. and problem solved.

        Does Not Work That Way!

They fail to realize that with GC comes responsibilities.. GC stands for Permanent Resident; means living long term in the US. GC does not mean working at an Indian Govt job and simply visiting the US whenever mom gets to take a break.

          Hi Experts,

I am from Bangladesh and a new user of this forum.
I am going to apply for US visitor visa along with my family. I heard that US Embassy issues 5 Years multiple entry visa in my country. However, In Travel Information section of DS-160 Online Form, Under Purpose of Trip to the U.S. I have selected "Temp Business Pleasure Visitor (B)" , but I am confused about "Specify" section. There is "Business & Tourism (Temporary Visitor) (B1/B2)" and "Tourism/Medical Treatment (B2)" - which one I should select here?

          Please suggest.

          Thanks
          Shooter

            Visiting Visa Question

            Hi All,
Thanks a lot for sharing your valuable opinion and information.
Now my mom got her Visa rejected third time, what are the options I have. Reasons for rejection previously was 214b and now the officer asked that when you got rejected in March why did you appear for interview this early(May). I have seen people applied for Visa and issued with less time gap like a month or two. So is there any specific time gap when your visa is rejected and to appear for next one. As it was rejected third time is it advisable to apply again may be after 6months or later(what should be the time interval) and what's my next step. Is there any limit that for one who appears for interview

I am not going for GC route as she still has service and doesn't want to quit.
