  • Parents got visitor visa - Thanks to this site

THANKS to this wonderful site, my parents got visitor visa.
I only followed this website for the entire process for my parents visitor's visa. Many people told me to refer to agents /consultants, but I read the site instructions and experiences, and posted my questions which were also answered by the site members.
Some details I wish to share with all:
    1. In Mumbai Consulate when my parents went to submit all the documents few days before interview, they accepted only DS156, DS157, DD of Rs.2300 and Visa fee receipts. I was worried about why they didnt take all documents.
    2. I spent 3-4 months going thru this site and preparing all docs, Employment letter, I-134, Bank Statements, every single document, spent lot of time arranging every paper, used to call home everyday and talk for 30-60 minutes explaining everything to them. My parents dont even use the net !!
I rehearsed all questions and answers with them, spent lot of $ on relianceindiacall :-)
    3. However my parents carried all documents with them for interview in big plastic bag. They also carried property papers, their bank documents, wedding album, everything.
    4. My dad is retired and both mom & dad are over 60 years.
    5. Its been less than a year since I came to USA.
    6. Questions by officer to my Dad were :
    - Why are you going to USA - tourism and to visit daughter
    - For how much time - they told 5 months
    - How many children do you have - only one (I am the only child)
    - Where is she working - Company name
    7. They got 10 years multiple entry visa.
God Bless The Founder of this site and all members for posting their experiences and answering the queries.
Good Luck to all of you.
I will tell that just maintain the facts and be truthful. It helps to be positive and truthful, that way we dont mess up.

      Quick Question to Lata

      Hi Lata:

How long before the interview date did you prepare these documents and send it to them? I am asking about I-134 and other supporting documents.

      Really appreciate your answer.

      Thanks
      Abhishek

          hi..

          hi,
i prepared I-134 and other documents and sent everything during end of Dec 2005 and beginning of Jan 2006, it reached them by Jan end 2006 and interview was in Feb 2006. I kept sufficient gap bcoz my parents need time to go thru and understand.
Also i sent in parts bcoz even if something is lost or so, there is always other copies to fall back on...

          good luck..

yeah, believe me, i slogged out a lot. only with the help of this site i cud manage.
i have lots of people here but no one knows the exact procedure, bcoz they have either forgotten abt it or are too lazy to guide...they are helpful but really lazy reg. documentation work.

              Hi Lata,

Congrats to you and your parents. As your parents attended the interview at the Mumbai consulate; could you please tell what exactly happens once one enter the consulate. My Mom is supposed to go for an interview to Mumbai Consulate at the end of the month, and she is a little tense; so just wanted to know.

              Thanks,
              Namita

                after entry in consulate

My parents went first to mahalaxmi office and from there they were taken by bus to VFS for interview, they had paid for the bus.
Then, there they take finger print, give a token and a wooden stick and are asked to wait.
Once their number as per token is called, the officer takes the interview.
Tell your mom, not to be nervous and things will be fine. Good Luck.
