  • Regarding Q28 in DS156 -- Who will pay for trip?

    Hi,
I landed in US in Dec2005 on L1 visa with my wife on dependant visa (L2). My Parents are planning to visit me in April mid. Visitor Visa interview appointment in Delhi is in early April. They have already bought a return ticket for both of them on their own -- Returning in June end. So, what should be written in Q28 -- my name or "Self" ?

I have heard that chances of getting visa are brighter if someone in US sponsors. So, I wrote my name there. Truly speaking, though I will not be paying for their air-fare; all other expenses in US - like boarding, lodging, touring, travelling within US, medical insurance will be borne out by me.

So, pls suggest whether I should leave my name as it is in Q 28? In that case, on their invitation letter should I mention that my parents have arranged for their ticket cost themselves and I would bear all their expenses while in US. Will it be OK? Or the visa officer will complain that why you wrote your son's name when he didn't purchase your ticket.

Could anyone pls share his/her experience...
    Thanks, Kaushal.

What shud invitation letter say for return ticket sponsoring?

Thanks for the reply. I have one more doubt that I mentioned earlier.

Since I am here for less than three months; my bank account verification letter shows my average balance as zero. Present balance is good -- $13000 .. Their computer computes quarterly balance, not monthly avg balance.

So, what shud I write in invitation letter? Is it ok to say that "I will bear all their expenses while they are in US; and they have already bought a return air ticket at their own expense" ? Pls suggest. Or I should still say that I will bear all their expenses including return air ticket.

Buying an airticket will not guarantee a visa. Visa granting is based on the sponsor's capability and applicant's ties back to homecountry.

Sorry, but still I didn't get my answer - what should I write in invitation letter? Should it be - "I will bear all their expenses while they are in US; and they have already bought a return air ticket at their own expense" ? Or I should still say that "I will bear all their expenses including return air ticket. "

Pls reply keeping in view of my case. Thanks.
