On Feb 24th I was able to reschedule my mother's interview date from June 6th to March 3rd. If an earlier date opens up there is nothing stopping you from selecting it on the website. So no matter what VFS says, those of you who are trying to prepoen a date, dont lose heart. We had a travel agent trying for dates during the day in India and I was trying for dates during the day here in the US. Ironically, only I was able to (a) get an open date to enter the applications (b) confirm a date for June 6th and (c) reschedule it to March 3rd - and this with a translator. Its a pain and requires patience cos VFS has THE most user unfriendly site ever!!

very happy to see your posting about u being able to prepone, actually i hve been trying to prepone from a long time. did u have ur original appoitment in english? did u u check for language appt to prepone, usually i dont see the date shown in the availabilty calender to be there in rescheduling calender. please let me know , how u could reschedule for language appt?

Her appt is for Tamil. I know how the website keeps coming up with the 'interview dates are not available' message. I kept trying nonstop during the day. The first opening I saw was for June 29th. That got me into the system to fill those forms which God knows take a while! By the time I was done of course, the date was gone. Then I kept trying to confirm a date by retrieving the application. One evening around 6:30 pm US (CT) I got June 6th and confirmed that. I continued trying via the reschedule option and finally late on Friday evening I got March 3rd. I did write to VFS asking them about pre-poning an apt and I got the same email as another poster here saying that dates cannot be preponed. So either VFS has no idea how their own website works or there is some loop hole somewhere.Comment

You said u r trying everytime by going through the reschedule link that means you are filling the information like p.p.number,hdfc barcode every time or first u r checking the dates just by clicking on the link current availability of dates.

Our travel agent suggested trying the link on the Home page to check for availability first. So I started doing this for some time. But I was alternately trying both the reschedule link and the availability link - just to be safe. I saw the March 3rd open date on the availability search first. By the time I went to the reschedule link no date was showing up. I just kept trying over and and over again from the reschedule link at that point and all of a sudden the March 3rd date showed up on the calendar. And yes the reschedule link required me to enter all the information - name, passport #, barcode, DOB. What I did was changed the option in my browser to remember form values so I didnt have to type this stuff over and over again.
Personally, I think the VFS site is a pain to navigate and use with hardly any helpful information. In my case, I work with my laptop all day so it was easy to keep trying. What about people who are in a different line of work?? How are they going to keep trying like this? I am really fed up with this process. My mother's visa was rejected once and this is her second attempt. First attempt was in English. From here on out we just have to pray that the officer she gets wakes up on the right side of the bed on the day of her interview

Sorry for bothering you
Just now I checked the availability link for telugu appointment and I saw the date march 3rd so I tried to reschedule the appoitment , I entered all the fields like p.p.no etc and then it is not showing me the date march 3rd . I came out of that procedure and cheched the availability link and it is showing me the date march 3rd.
what else can I do for this kind of problem

Keep trying via the reschedule link! This is the same thing I saw on Friday. I just kept trying from the reschedule link and the calendar with the open date showed up!Comment
