Can J2 create and sponsor parents visa DS160 application?

Hello All,

I am on J2 and working with a Big 5 company .

I am preparing my parents application for tourist visa.

I wanted to know is it safe if I put my name as paying for trip expenses and also provide all the necessary documents - (Bank ,Employment,visa etc) for submission to my parents or does it have to be necessarily be J1 paying for the trip in the application and only he can be the sponsor ?

Is there any J2 who has successfully applied and brought there parents on their papers?

So J1 (principal applicant) paying or J2 (Dependant ) paying for the trip does not decide for B1/B2 visa as long the person shown on DS-160 is able to provide the necessary bank statements and other associated documents?
