  • Order of documents for interview

    Hi,

Thanks for your service. I have some questions. Please help.

    1. There are quite a lot of documents to carry during the interview, some being mandatory and some for supporting. In what order these documents need to be carried to the consulate and what documents need to be handed over to the consular officer and what documents need to be kept with the interviewee & hand over if asked for?

    2. There is one mistake made in the passport issuance year in DS 156 that was submitted online. But fields 1 - 14 are now not editable through vfs site. Is there any way to correct this mistake or will just ignore it & take the printout?

    3. Even though parents have proper property documents and original bank passbooks and FD receips and pension papers, is the affidavit of property still needed by them?

    Best Regards.

    1. There is no particular order. Parents should know what document is for what and hand over whatever is asked for.

    2. Correct at the time of interview.

    3. Yes.

Thanks a lot. Regarding correction of passport issuance year in DS 156, I do not understand what does 'correct at the time of interview' means, does it mean that we should tell the officer about that or can we change it with eraser in the DS 156 application printout with barcode.
