  • No tax returns in US_tourist visa for mother from India

    Hi,

I need some guidance on two points:

    1) I have very recently moved to USA from Germany (3 months back). I'm on L1A visa and I would like to have my mother visit my family in Chicago for a month or so. My only concern is - since I have JUST moved to the States, I don't have the tax return statements like everyone else. I have all the other documents in good shape such as bank statements, pay stubs, apartment lease agreement, I-94, etc. but not the tax return statements.
Will this be a major issue while I send the documents for my mother's visa application in India?

    2) My mother is a housewife and does not have any salary statements or tax returns to prove her financial status. She is dependent on my father's salary. We do however have property in India for which my mother has the power of attorney. Also, she lives in India with my brother and my brother's wife as well. Will the lack of salary statements/tax returns hamper her case? Will the property papers, fact that she lives with family in India help?

Please guide on these two points.

    Regards,
    mon_vidh

    1. If visa officer ask then your mother can reply that you moved to US only 3m ago. It should not be a big problem.
    2. She must be filing joint tax return with your dad. Property documents and bank statement will be helpful.

    Visitor visa process information,
This is not a legal advice. Use at your own risk.

Your mother's financial situation is more important than yours in this case. Get her finances in order before she applies.
