  • Renewing expired tourist visa from USA

    Hello Forum ,

My mother came from India last month , her tourist visa is expiring august (was initially given in 2006 September for 10 years) .

Is there anyway I can renew it for another 10 years while she is in USA ?

    Thanks
    Abhi

She cannot renew the visa in the USA (unless she is a diplomat accredited to the UN)

But once you are in the USA you can stay past your visa expiration date. How long was she given by the CBP officer upon arrival? Usually it's six months.

        Thanks Banned ,

Yeah that looks like an option for me , I will see atleast if she can stay for 6 months , ideally I had wanted her to stay for more than that time.

        Thanks

There is no way to give her 10 years visit visa at the first place unless she gets immigrant visa. I think what she got were LPR immigrant visa I-551 which is issued for 10 years.

This is my opinion not legal advice. I just want to help you to thoroughly consider among doable ways but you take your own risks.
