  • Separate appointments vs group family appointment

    Hi,
Me and my wife are applying to renew a B1/B2 visa. The reason for our travel is to visit my son, who is studying in the us. We already visited him last year. He also comes back home every summer.
I applied for a visa and chose a "Family appointment". We were denied visa under 214B. I reviewed many articles on here on reasons for visa denial under 214B and I couldn't find any reason that applies to my situation.

Will I get a better chance if we applied separately? Do you think that this refusal will impact chances next time?

I look forward to get your suggestions.
    Thanks.

It's uncommon to be denied after receiving a visa and traveling without issue.

    - have you stayed an inordinate amount of time in the United States?

    - has your financial situation changed for the worse?

    - were you given a full-validity visa originally? Generally this would be five or 10 years for most countries' passports.

      - Not at all. We stayed for 4 weeks (which is the amount of time we told the counselor previously.

      - No, it's still exactly the same.

      - Yes, we got 2 years (which is the full validity for people from my country.)

      Thank you for your reply.

Can i travel before the principal applicant?

I and my brothers and sisters inlaw applied for a group appointment on b2 visa for the purpose of my mother inlaw's funeralfuneral in which we were all granted visas, my question can any of us travel to the US before the arrival of the principal applicant? Please help with this. Thanks and God bless.
