My friend from kazakhstan applied for tourists visa last year and was denied. Consulate did not tell him why he was denied, he just handed him a piece of paper with a list of reasons for denial and told to read it. My friend brought in all the documents required of him. He owns two apartments in his country and has a sizeable bank account. He is not currently working and had no job at time of application. He wanted to come to usa for first time and stay 6 months. I know consultant can say no to 6 months and tell them how long they can stay. What i want to know is why he was denied?

Your friend failed to overcome the presumption of immigrant intent. An applicant from a developing country with no job, and who wishes to stay 6 months, is unlikely to be viewed as eligible for a visitor visa.
