  • Enter USA by land from Montreal, what visa?

I am a VWP user that has previous overstay, now hoping to reenter USA. My ESTA still says valid when checking it... But I did overstay by almost three months (69 days).
And then I read this" Do I need ESTA to enter the United States by land?

No. If you are coming by land you do not need to apply for ESTA.

Note: VWP citizens do not need an ESTA to travel on the ferries between Vancouver and Victoria, BC and Washington state. They are treated as a land border port.

If you wish to receive automatic updates to this Q&A, select "Subscribe to Updates" on the left side of this screen."

So don't I need a VISA if entering by land? And if yes, what VISA? Will they see my overstay? What do I do?

If you have overstayed you can't use ESTA. You need to apply for Visitor visa and visa officer can see you overstayed on ESTA.

Please read restrictions under visa waiver program, Last one will be applicable to you
