  • Regarding B1/2 visa

    Hello,

I am working in US on a J1 visa and I got married in few months back. My husband currently works in India and has his job. I want to call my husband here to visit me for 2-3 months. Unfortunately, after marriage we didn't have time to register the wedding due to time constraints so we don't have our marriage certificate yet and it complicates the visa application process as I can't legally invite him as my husband. I was thinking to invite him as friend but then in DS160 he needs to fill out the relationship status and all so...I was told by some friends that the moment he says that he is visiting his wife, they would ask him for the marriage certificate! I am wondering if they would decline the visa due to nonavailability of the marriage certificate? Is there any other way that I can invite him? Please help....

    Thank you

If you invite him as a friend that means you are lying on visa application and that will be really problematic for you and him for future visa. He needs to be honest and give the real reason why marriage certificate is not available. you can provide affidavit of non availability. You can find more information at, https://www.immihelp.com/marriage-ce...a-immigration/

I would suggest you invite him on J2 visa and he can bring wedding pictures, invitation card and other proof at the time of interview.
