Hi, today on 29th of June, in Vietnam, me and my mother went to the Ho Chi Minh City consulate for a visa appointment. We need the visa to visit our sister on her wedding date (13/08/2016)
Me: hello
Officer: hello
- I put in me and my mother's visa
Officer: What is the purpose of your visit
Me: We want to be at my sister's (and my mother's daughter) wedding on 13/08
Officer: How long will you be staying
Me: I will be staying for 2 weeks, just for the wedding, as I only have 14 days of vacation. My mother will stay for 4 weeks. My sister will guide my mother back after 4 weeks
Officer: What is your sister's job?
Me: She's currently an intern working for Walgreen. She studied in Xavier University for 6 years. This is her last. It's been a while since we get to see her. She has only been back when my father died
Officer: How did she come to America?
Me: She came to study
Officer: What is your job? (to my mother)
Mother: small retails (she said after I tap her back because she was distracted)
Me: And renting out apartment rooms and storefronts (my mother is old and has bad memory, and she was feeling distracted)
Officer: And what is your job? (to me)
Me: I work as a restaurant manager assistant (then I tell him the location and name of the restaurant)
Officer: I'm sorry but I will have to refuse your application for visa
Me: Excuse me, but could I know the reason?
Officer: Please read this paper (as he hand me the B2 denial paper)
Me: Thank you
During the interview, he only held on to the passport. We were prepared give him other documents that prove we have ties in Vietnam by holding them readily in our hand, but he didn't look at us during that time. Is it required that we push the documents in through the windows without the Officer's request?
And please tell me if there's anything we shouldn't have said during the interview. Thank You
PS: My sister acquired US Citizenship during her study in the US
