  • Immigration at SFO for a visitor along with GC holder

    Hi,

I am a GC holder. After a visit to India on the return my mother is coming along with my family (my kids are US citizens and my wife is GC holder). My mother has the multiple entry visitor visa and has already travelled once.

Normally for GC holders the immigration process is a bit different and the counter is different as well. FWIW, my port of entry will be SFO. My mother can't speak english and I would like to go with her to the immigration counter. Looking for past experience/suggestions from folks who have been in similar situation. Is it ok to go with her and tell the officer I am doing so because she needs help ? Will he be able to process my entry as well ?

    regards,
    Santhosh

Yes you can. Alternatively, You can write letter and she can show at the immigration counter. This is very common many times parents don't know English so immigration officer will call someone in the row and he/she can translate the question for your mom.
