My father is visiting us here in the US... at the time of his visa interview I sent the invitation letter and letter to embassy saying that he would be staying with us for 5 months. But now our plan got changed and we want him stay with us for six months... would there be any problem at port of entry if my father says he want to stay here for six months. Can I send another letter for immigration officer to request six months....

It doesn't really matter what your invitation letter says. They'll give him 3 or 6 months when he is processed at the Port of Entry (probably six months)
