Hi All,
Just looking for some advice as I am a little stressed at the mo.....
In 2010 I applied (and was successful) in getting a US tourist visa - I had to apply for one, rather than use ESTA, as I had previously been arrested and charged with a criminal offence in 2003 - of which I was later found to have no involvement in and declared not guilty at a crown court.......I was honest enough to disclose this and pay my money to the US Embassy in London.
On the plane, I filled in the old paper i-94 form and handed one portion in as I arrived - the second portion disappeared in the next 2 weeks....and has never been found. So when I left, there was no record of my departure.....
Once home, I researched 'what to do' - I found some details and sent my boarding passes, some receipts and bank statements off to have the record corrected. Matter closed?? So I thought....
Once it became apparent that you can no check your visit history online, I had a look - the record has never been corrected - Not the response I had hoped for. My previous passport (which contained the visa) expired a couple of years ago.....I've moved house twice in that time.......Passport is no longer to be found either........
We are planning to visit the USA in the summer - so I have renewed my UK passport, and have reapplied for a non-immigrant visa at the Embassy in London.....but am obviously bricking it due to the previous issue. Looking now at the advice for losing an i-94, they state making and sending copies of all that you send....I don't remember that when I last sent all the stuff off - I have dug out a load of other documents that show I was back in the UK at the time I should have been including bank statements, letters from the Job Centre (as we had recently relocated), and even a document that I signed to allow my daughter to have her ears pierced! Even my social media activity shows my return...
Any words of advice of (a) what I can expect when I reapply at my interview (b) anything else I can do to strengthen my application and (c) anything I can do in the interim?
Many thanks...
Andy
