Error while applying for visitor visa online - Plse help

Hi,
I am trying to apply for a vistor visa thru https://www.vfs-usa.co.in. After entering all details (passport,barcode etc), in the last page , getting the following error. It happens whenever the dates are avialable.

Server Error in '/' Application.

Hmmm.. Weird. Make sure that your Internet Explorer > Tools > Internet Options > General > Settings has "Every visit to the page" selected. Also make sure that there is no space in the passport number and for HDFC receipt number you are entering just the digits starting with 900.... and not the number starting with the letter A900...etc.

Also try clearing your browser cache and starting with a new browser instance. You could try using Firefox instead.
I know all our ideas sound disheartening. I had the same problems and I tried everything listed here and it just happened to work - not sure if a specific thing I did fixed the problem or the VFS website happened to have some issues that got fixed.

I tried all that is suggested ... still, i am not able to create a new app. I have been trying since 7.30AM EST this morning but, no success so far. Is anyone else able to create a new App??? Pls. respond

If possible see if your parents can go to the local VFS office and get this done. That might be easier and can fix the problem before all the dates are gone.

Thank you all, I tried all the options that you have suggested, but no luck. I think it's better to go the VFS office directly. Does anyone know what all docs that we should carry when you go there other than the passport and DD receipts?

You need to take a completed D156 form. May be you can even fill it up once you go there.

Is it just the DS-156 that needs to be carried to the vfs office to get an appointment. Are the other things like passport copies, DS-157, HDFC receipt not required? Please advise.
Also, what are the chances in terms of getting an early appointment date. Are the chances better or worst than the Online thing?

you need to take your passport, HDFC receipt, DS 156 forms.

You need Photgraphs too

As per VFS e-mail to setup an appointment in their office folliwng things are required.

Passport/ DS156/DS157/ HDFC recipet / Photogrpah / Copies of Passport (some pages)

Update:

Finally I could make an appoinment online though several days are already gone. It's one of the internet options were creating the error page (as someone mentioned here before, offcourse it's a problem with that website too. However the immediate solution is try to do it in a different computer by reseting all internet connection details to default. That worked for me. I had to try in 4 different machines, finally one worked. Will keep you posted if i could figure out what exactly causing the problem. Also when I talked to the US consulate helpline over the phone, they said since it's a new website most of the features have still problems and the Rescheduler doesn't seem to work.
