  • Is it possible change F1 student visa status to B2 tourist visa after leaving US ?

Hi, I've 5 years F1 visa and I just left US after finishing up my Masters. I didn't apply for OPT as I was not sure if I'll be coming back.

Is it possible to change my visa status now from F1 to B2 tourist visa ? I assume it's possible if I were in USA but as I'm living abroad now I'm not sure if I can do that.

There is no such thing as changing one visa for another. You can apply for a B2 visa.

No such thing. (F visa no longer valid)

Each application evaluated on merit; nothing to do with being in the US or outside.

You were here for the last 5 years and just left and now want to apply for a B2 to visit? That seems strange. I would think a visa officer would think so too, but all you can do is apply. One visa has nothing to do with another.

This is my opinion and not legal advice. Use of this information is strictly at your own risk.
