  • Interview - Should I mention this?

I'm a 17 year old male from India. I haven't applied for any visa yet. After completing high school, I took a gap year to reconsider what I want to do next and where. I'm thinking about doing my undergraduate education in the US. Before I apply to any university, I think it would be wise to visit the university first. It would also give me a chance to give an interview in person. This would be temporary, from first week of October 2016 to last week of December 2016, so a B1/B2 visa would work. If and when I get accepted, with the I-20 form I would apply for an F1 visa only in July 2017. I will not attend any academic course during my stay from Oct to Dec.

My question is this : should I mention in the interview that I intend to potentially continue my education in the USA? Or should I simply say I'm visiting my aunt, visit the universities anyway? Since there will be a good 6 months gap between my arrival back to India and my F1 visa application, perhaps they would not see it as preconceived intent. So should I mention it or not?

Regardless of whether they will think it's preconceived intent or not, (which it is and you would be lying on a visa application and committing fraud), your chances of getting a B1/B2 visa to come here to the U.S. are almost non-existent. You're very young, you have graduated, it sounds like you have no job/career, I am sure no spouse or children, & probably own no property. You have no strong ties to your home country. And then on top of all of that, your home country/country of citizenship is India. India is one of the highest immigration risk countries in the world for the U.S.

    Apply for the F1.

This is my opinion and not legal advice. Use of this information is strictly at your own risk.
