  • Parents tourist visa got rejected. Is it a good idea to apply individually?

    Hi,

I am staying in US on H4 visa and my husband is on H1b. I applied for my parents visa in June but it got rejected under 214b, stating that my parents couldn't show strong ties to the home country.

Now I want to understand if it is a good idea to apply only for my mother this time ? Does she have a better chance by showing that her husband and my younger brother are residing back there in India and she has to return to them eventually. Or should I apply for both of them again?

Another question : My dad is currently involved in his business, has his own house and my younger brother is also staying with them only . which is enough proof of their strong ties. But he didn't get a chance to explain all this to the consulate. I read it somewhere that in order to show strong ties , present the property papers. But I don't see any place in DS 160 where I can include such documentation. Is there a way to show them such proofs in the application itself? as I have read that application contains all the information based on which consulates make their decisions.

If both parents are planning to visit then you should apply for both of them together. Anyway, visa officer evaluate each applicant individually. They can self sponsor.
