  • B1 visa for step2 CS

    Hello,
I would like to know if anyone has the experience of applying for a B1/B2 visa for giving the step 2 CS/ interviewing for residency. What do you mention as purpose of visit- tourism or giving the exam? I have mentioned giving my step 2 CS as reason of visit.

What are the chances my visa application gets rejected given that I have done my MD in India?

Does having a job help my cause- Im just 2 months into my job ( government job)

Going to take the test is the right reason to give.
You will be asked about Step1 and 2 scores.
The consular may ask you how long do you wish to go for
and your intended period of stay should be in weeks and not months.
Also, you may be asked about your long term plans ...whatever you say,
it must include returning to India after your residency.
Also, your financial status(show good family income) and family in India may have a bearing on the decision. Since you have a govt job, it may help too.

Thanx. But I also intend to give my interviews during this time. So will the duration of stay be months?

Also.......should I mention this on my DS 156 in the space on purpose of visit?

The consular will give you at least a 3month visa even if you say your
stay is going to be in weeks and your stay in US is not decided by the duration of the visa but by the guy at the US airport of entry.
So do not mention interviews on DS 156 or to the consular.
