What happens inside the Consulate ?

Hello,

My Mom has her interview at the Mumbai Consulate this month. She is little nervous about the whole thing. Can anybody share their experiences about what actually happens inside the consulate from the moment you enter till you get to the window and thereafter.

Hi Nmaita,
I have been for my interview at Mumbai consulate in Jan. Ask you mother to reach the consulate 30 mins before as they will not allow her to go inside the consulate before that. Normally there is a big queue of interviewer who arrive before there scheduled time. She is suppose to go a show her interview letter and passport to the consulate personnel stand just near the police chowky outside the consulate. Once they have check they will let her into the consulate. At the entrance she will have to under go security check. Ask her not to carry anything other those items mentioned in there list else she will have to come out again the dispose the same(eg. biscuits,waterbottles etc). After the security check they will give her a wood stick which she has to retain with her and return it at the time or leaving the consulate.Now she will enter into the interview room, on the right hand side there will be a counter where her passports, visa fee receipt will be checked and she will be give her application form, DD etcearlier submitted and a token number slip. Taking all the docs she has to proceed to the fingerprint courier at the left most corner. Once the fingerprinting is done she will have to take a sit and wait for her no. to be called. She needs to be alert to hear at which counter her no. is called. I think there are 7 to 8 counters. Ask her to be relax and answer confidently looking eye to eye with the VO.

Thanks for the information, do you know at which point do they ask whether one needs an interpreter or does each counter have an interpreter ?
