Travel Exhibition to attend in Canada

I and my colleague intend to travel to Canada for attending a Travel Exhibition in Canada month of October 2016. My question is if my colleague is absconded there do I have to face any consequences. This is only a doubt and not sure he will do it. What precaution I have to take in order to avoid any legal issues.

Most likely no. Do you have already Canada visa?
