  • submited un-answered questions 35&36 on DS-156

my friend submited Hand-written DS-156 for his mom & made a copy for his own record & later found out that he didn't answer Questions 35 & 36 which were supposed to be NO...but the conslate gave her next month's Interview date.

    My question is...
Is that gonna create a problem for her during the interview?
    or
she can simply say, his son forgot to answer those questions?

    any idea?

Qns 35 and 36 are check boxes. SO it can be easily changed now also.. right?

Forgot to answer is an Invalid answer. Nobody will accept it..

      It happened in pakistan...
1st: they paid the visa fee at the AMERICAN EXPRESS BANK LTD
2nd: AMERICAN EXPRESS BANK LTD mailed the DS-156, DS-157, & her Passport to Conslate in Islamabad for review
3rd: Conslate returned both applications & passport & gave her Interview date

but later found out those two questions weren't marked, just left blank...I'm sure conslate must have seen them & yet they gave her interview date...don't know whats gonna happen.

YES dahlia, You are right, since the applications were hand-written, they can still check NO box but don't know if the conslate made a copies for their own record while the applications were there for a week...

1: Do u think, they should check NO box since its changeable??? because she has to take them with her on the interview

2: What reason should she give conslate for not ansering those 2 questions since she didn't fill them up

I would say, create one more copy and fill all correct details. Just mark the 2 check boxes with red ink to differentiate..

I think such changes are quite normal and even while creating applns online, many make mistakes which can't be edited after. In those cases what we do is to take new printout and do what I said before. I am not aware of anybody had any issue doing like this in any consulates in India. Hope its same in Pakistan?

yes , when I filled out the 156 online , i put NA in a couple of places. but it did not appear in the PDF I downloaded from the VFS site.

I could not edit the doc after that also?

I sent 2 copies , one copy I wrote NA by Pen and another one blank.

Can we give the alternate one if they give problem for the first one , or should we give the corrected one and tell them in advance
