Need B2 visa to wind up personal belongings in US (already hold H1B visa)

Hi guys,

Here is my situation:

I was working in USA on H1B visa and had to travel back to India in emergency due to family circumstances.
Now at my job I have got myself transferred to India only.

Problem is I have many of my personal belongings - clothes, household items, etc. still present in USA. I need to wind up all that and carry important stuff back home.

I understand from some forums that I cannot travel on H1B visa for this personal purpose.
So I would need to get a B2 tourist visa.

Do you see any problem in getting the visa?
Can I safely explain this in 1. DS-160, 2. at the visa interview, 3. at the Port of Entry?

Any advise on this matter?

You can apply B2 visa. As per my understanding you will not have problem for visa approval. You can explain the situation to visa officer.
