L1 Blanket already in process-Interview awaited, can I apply for Tourist Visa?

Dear All,

My company applied for my L-1 Blanket visa but the interview date is delayed and is in Late October... I plan to visit US for tourism in late December so may I apply for tourist visa in the meanwhile?
If Yes, I have additional question... The USTRAVELDOCS only lets me process 1 petition at a time, so should I setup an additional profile for the tourist VISA?

It's not advisable to apply visitor visa while L1b already in progress. Is there any specific reason that you want to Visit US in December?
